London Trains

Please check that there are no train or tube strikes.

There are 2 different train companies that run between London and Luton.

Both train companies stop at Kings Cross St Pancras, and they leave from totally different platforms in different parts of St Pancras International station. They are also differrent prices.

The 2 companies are:

1) Thameslink, which go from platform B at St Pancras International. This used to be First Capital Connect, so there might be some out of date signs or maps that refer to Thameslink platforms or tickets as FCC.

2) East Midlands Railway, which go from platform 1 at St Pancras International

The journey is generally 25 or 35 minutes, but do check as there is one that takes 50 minutes.

I usually get the train that takes 35 minutes and departs from Platform B, run by Thameslink.

For more information see https://www.thetrainline.com/ or the Trainline smartphone app is very useful with platform details and journey times. St Pancras International is a big station, and it’s also where Eurostar departs from.

Other London stations that you can get a train directly to Luton from are: London Bridge, Blackfriars, Farringdon, West Hampstead Thameslink (there are 2 different stations in West Hampstead).
